Reverse mortgage loans are specifically designed for seniors above 62 years. This form of loans reverses the equity of your home allowing you to access a steady form of income or an open line of credit or even both. With reverse mortgage loans a senior can take care of a number of expenses such as home renovation and repair, surgery and medical expenses, child’s education or any form of investment. The senior also gets to remain in his home without having to move.  

However, reverse mortgages still has some disadvantages. The cost of accessing the loans, the high interest rates and the denying your heirs a valuable inheritance are just some of them. Still for many reverse mortgage loan provision is very beneficial and has helped them. For others it is just a sham and a bad choice to make.
